Patrick Joseph Waters, 86, of Lakewood passed away Saturday November 14, 2009 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.

Patrick was born in Elizabeth on March 21, 1923.  He lived in Brick before moving to Lakewood.  He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 8867 and American Legion both of Brick.

Surviving are his children Patrick and his wife Sally, Michael and his wife Laura, Kathleen and her husband Richard Teller and Barbara Eklund; his sisters Theresa Waters, Margaret Cordes and Helen Walano; and six grandchildren Amy, Katherine, Colleen, Kevin, Daniel and Emily.

Visiting will be Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River.  A mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 12:15pm at the Church of the Assumption RC Church, New Egypt. Burial Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery will follow.

Athena Drivanos, 74 of Toms River, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  

Born in New York City, NY, residing in Bergen County before moving to Toms River 4 years ago.   She was a Administrative Assistant for Do-All Trucking, Westwood, NJ.  

She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Colleen. Suriviving is her husband George Drivanos; two sons, Nicholas and his wife Marita and James and his wife Lisa; daughter, Annette and her husband Donald Mc Lean; brother, Peter Avaras; and four grandchildren, Alexander, Donald, Ryan and Taylor.

Visitation will be held Monday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ. John DeFilippis, 69 of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009 in Westchester Medical Center, NY.  

Born in Brooklyn, NY, living in Staten Island before moving to Toms River in 1983.
John was the owner and operator of Windows from Us, Inc. of Lakewood since 1980. He was a community activist, avid golfer and hunter. Patriot.  Member of Woodlake Country Club was on the board of advisors, member of the Lakewood Township Steering Committee and Rental Advisory Board. 

Beloved husband of Patricia DeFilippis; loving father of Lisa Jerrihan, Lorraine Emery and Vincent DeFilippis; grandfather of Jennifer, Christina Constaney, Michael Jerrihan, Brittany and John Emery; great grandfather of Matthew Scott Johnson; brother of Margaret DeFilippis,  half brother of the late Paul DeFilippis, Jr. and the late Hugo DeFilippis and numerous nieces & nephews.  Special thanks to his nephew Thomas Geiger and Kathy de Castro for their loving support.

Luisa Esposito Intile, 79, of Toms River, passed away at her home, Tuesday, November 10, 2009 surrounded by her loving family.  

Born in Newark, the daughter of Joseph and Amalia Esposito.  She resided in Rutherford, before moving to Toms River in 1972.  She was employed as an executive secretary for Bambergers and then worked at Community Medical Center in Toms River for 20+ years. 

Surviving are her two sisters, Cami Linker and Inez McDermitt.  Also surviving are her children,  John J. Intili MD. and his wife, Kathleen, Michael B. Intile and his wife, Gina, Carl T. Intile and his wife, Ruth, and Thomas A. Intili and his wife, Odette.  Surviving as well are her beloved grandchildren, Allessandra, John Matthew, Christopher, Jacqueline, Brianna, Michael, Marissa, Ashley, Justin, Nicholas and Erica.  She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Erma M. Williams
To all who had their lives touched by Erma M. Williams; She is now with the Lord, and she leaves behind her smile, her faith, her truthfulness, her forgiving nature, and her laughter.  The joy and wisdom that Erma spread is unforgettable.

Growing up in Scotch Plains, she graduated from Scotch Plains High School, going on to graduate from the Alviene School of Dance and Theater.  She owned and operated the Erma Brown School of Dance for 12 years, before marrying and settling in Green Island for the next 45 years, where she raised her 2 daughters, sailed, traveled, skied, and worked at the Green Island Real Estate Office.  Erma taught dance at Brick performing arts for 14 years, worked 20 more years as secretary to the president of Ocean County College, and even became a Vax-D technician at Dr. Pollack's Beachwood Rehab. In between all these events, Erma was a faithful friend to all she met, and a devoted mother to the very end."

Erma is pre-deceased by her husband, Jud Williams, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.  She is survived by her sister Edna, and her 2 daughters; Cathy and son in law Joe Wolf, Grandchildren Forrest, Brandon, Lindajo and Presley.  Linda, Antonio and Hunter Surrusco.  Step-son Neale and wife Jean, grandchildren Michelle, husband Joe, and Judd, wife Maria, and 2 step-great granddaughters, Ashley and Jillian.  Step-daughter Peggy, husband Skip.  31 nieces and nephews, and many many loving friends.

Julia M. O'Hearn, 75 of Brick, passed on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  

Born in Jersey City where she lived before moving to Brick.
Mrs O'Hearn was a Crossing Guard for the Jersey City Police Department for 10 years before her retirement in 1995 she worked for the National Archives in Bayonne as a Clerk for 10 years .

She is predeceased by her husband Walter in 1994. She is survived by two daughters Deborah Donelan of Forked River and Patty Thomas of Lodi.
Three brothers John, Edward and William Horan, three sisters Anne Klaus, Elizabeth Fitzmaurice and Win Monahan.  Her loving grand daughter Kate.

Dominic J. Iandoli, 89 of Brick, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.  

Born in Yonkers, NY, where he resided before moving to Brick in 1986.  Dominic was a Banker for National Bank of North America, Yonkers, NY for 20 years, retiring in 1982 and a US Air Force Veteran serving during World War II. 

He is survived by his wife Lillian Haight Iandoli; and a sister, Carmella Iandoli.

Wanda (Violet) Berg, of Brick, NJ passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at home after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was 95. 

Born in Paterson, NJ on July 24, 1914 to Roman and Antonina Drentkiewicz, she lived in Harrison before settling and raising her family in Brick. She worked for Westinghouse in Newark as well as First National Bank of Toms River and was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation RC Church, Brick. 

Devoted wife to Max Paul Berg and loving mother to sons Maximillion Roman Berg and Carl Randolph Berg, she will be lovingly remembered for her unfailing devotion to family and faith, her lighthearted spirit and an infectious laugh that lit up a room.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Leslie Berg, of Toms River. Her daughter-in-law, Linda Berg of Chandler, Arizona. Her grandchildren, Lisa Richards, Carl D.Berg, Darren Berg, Kristen Collins and Jeffrey Berg, and 9 great-grandchildren. 

Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14th, at 10:00am at the funeral home. Please arrive at the funeral home at 9:30. Entombment to follow at Ocean Country Memorial Park.

Edward James Gibadlo passed peacefully in his sleep on October 31, 2009 at Community Medical Center.  

He was born in Lowell, Massachusetts and attended Lowell High School where he was an outstanding quarterback and Captain of the football team. After graduation he joined the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Seaman 1st Class. Living in Mountainside, N.J., he was very involved in Union County politics becoming a Councilman for his district and then becoming County Committeeman. He also volunteered as a Boy Scout leader and was Commissioner of the Little League Baseball team. During this time, he worked at Jersey Mortgage Company located in Elizabeth, N.J. retiring as Vice President of that company. After moving to Holiday City Silverton, Ed became involved in Pet Therapy first taking the dogs to visit patients in local nursing homes and later becoming the trainer for volunteers. He also volunteered for the Salvation Army collecting funds. He was involved with Retired Senior Volunteer program for over 16 years and was a Board member in good standing. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Julia and John Gibadlo. Ed is survived by his beloved daughters, Joanne Evans, Gale Golden and her husband Scott, all living in Arizona, and his son David Gibadlo of Ocean Gate, N.J. his brother James in McLean, Virginia, his sister Laura Bush in Rome, New York and his cherished granddaughters Alexandra and Natalie Evans, Tate Golden and grandson Todd Golden. He also leaves many nieces and a nephew.  S

Christopher Marchione, 82 of Toms River passed away November 5, 2009 at home.

Born in Providence, Rhode Island he resided in Nutley before moving to Toms River 5 years ago. As a bus operator he worked for the New Jersey Transit for 39 years retiring in 1988. Christopher served  in the United States Navy during World War II.
He was predeceased by his brothers and sister, Albert, Nicholas and Anna.
Surviving are his beloved wife Nedda Marchione and sisters Yolanda Catanzarite and Vera Yocamelli, also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who he filled with laughter & love.

Visiting will be Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River.  A mass of Christian burial will be Monday 10:30am at St. Luke's RC Church, arrive at the funeral home 9:30am.  Entombment Ocean County Memorial Park.

John Patrick Dowling, 85 of Toms River, passed on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Green Acres Manor, Toms River.   

Born in Shenandoah, Pa he lived in Clark most of his life before moving to Toms River in 1989. Mr. Dowling was an Assembler for General Motors in Linden for 12 years before retiring in 1988. He previously was the owner and operator of Jack's Arco Station in Linden for 25 years. He was a decorated WW II Army Veteran, wounded in France. He was a member of the Brick DAV, Green Briar Woodlands VFW, Men's Club, Bowling Club, Bocce Club and Poker Club. 

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, three sons and daughters in law John P. Jr. of Raleigh, NC, James J. & Sharon of Sag Harbor, NY, Michael J. and Leslie of Wyomissing, Pa , two daughters and sons in law Carolyn & William Brennan of Westhampton, NJ and Joanne & Peyton Hall of Toms River.  10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Susan Wessells Ali, 48 of Seaside Heights, passed on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at her home.  

Born in Point Pleasant she lived most of her life in Brick moving to Seaside Heights 7 years ago.

She is survived by her daughter Rayla of Brick and her son Robert Wessells. Four sisters Jeanne Rappa , Virginia Schroeder, Karen Nungesser and Amy Wessells.

Tara J. Seda (nee Betz), 34 of Jackson, passed on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 after a long battle with Melanoma Cancer. Tara passed at home with her family.  

Born in Freehold, she lived in Lakewood before moving to Jackson in 2005.

Tara is predeceased by her daughter Ireland, who passed in 2004.  
Tara is survived by her husband Jason, her three children, Jason, Brooke, Madison, her mother & father John & Diane Betz of Lakewood, her sisters Karrie Petrizzo of Toms River, Jaclyn Deider of Ocean Port, her in-laws Rafael & Anna Seda of Jackson, her brother in-laws Ken & Ralph of Jackson and Mark of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday 2-4pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, with a memorial service at 3:00pm.  Cremation private.  Friends & family will be invited to the Italian Club in Jackson, after the Memorial Service from 4:30pm - 8pm for a light dinner and refreshments. William J. Abercrombie, Jr. passed away Wednesday October 28th, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was 73. 

He was born in Rochester, NY and lived in Irvington, Belford and Wall before moving to Toms River in 1993. He was a Sgt. in the Army National Guard of NJ. He graduated from Irvington HS and received a bachelor degree in electrical engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson College in 1959. He worked at Alloy Steel in Linden. In 1963 he became owner of County Organ and Piano in Asbury Park and in 1974 he established and was the owner and operator of Tri-County Kitchens, Wall for twenty years. He was an avid bridge player winning many local tournaments. He was a self-taught accordion player, guitarist and organist.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Dorothy Kugler Abercrombie; a son, Scott Kennedy, two daughters, Karen Corson and Wendy Canning all of Maine; two step-children, John Glassford, Mass, a step-daughter Jacqueline Capasso, Manchester, NJ; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a twin sister Vivian Gow, Cassadaga, NY.

Bringing happiness, joy, and pride in his life are grandchildren Joe and Dana Capusso, Manchester, NY and Sgt. Matt Richtercorson USMC, Afghanistan.

Armand Ancona, 93, of Brick passed away October 28, 2009 at Meridian Nursing, Brick, NJ

Born in Tunsia, Northern Africa he moved to Belleville in 1952 before moving to Brick in 1991. Armand was a machinist for Jem Machines, Kearney for 30 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Men's Club of Lions Head South, Brick and a communicant of the Visitation RC Church, Brick.

Surviving are his beloved wife Mae Ancona, his nephews William Ancona, Claude Ancona, 4 loving sister in laws, 2 brother in laws and many loving nieces and nephews of his wife's family,

Theresa "Tee Tee" A. Darcy (nee Pallillo), 69 of Toms River, passed on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Community Medical Center Hospice Unit, Toms River.  

Born in Passaic she lived in Lodi and Elmwood Park before moving to Toms River in 2002. Mrs Darcy was a homemaker, devoted to her loving husband, children and grandchildren.


She is survived by her Husband David, son David of Mt Laurel, her daughter Melissa Dombrowski of Toms River, four grandchildren Kyle & Keri Darcy and Alison & Justin Dombrowski .

Karen J. Miciak, 63, of Brick passed away October 24, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Elizabeth and had resided in Linden before moving to Brick 37 years ago. Karen successfully owned and operated the Consigning Women in Point Pleasant for 8 years. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.

She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Lawrence.
Surviving are her beloved husband Lewis Miciak Sr., her children Lewis Miciak Jr., Jill Niehus and her husband Patrick.  Her cherished grandson Patrick Niehus, sister Janice Kochanski and her brother Carl Zimala.

Denise M. Simone, 50, of Annadale, a high school principal who formerly taught English at Wagner High School, died Thursday in Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Annadale at age 19. After attending high school in Brooklyn, Ms. Simone received her bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in English from Brooklyn College. Her first teaching position was at Seward Park High School, Manhattan. Shortly after, she began teaching English at Susan Wagner High School in Sea View. She left Wagner three years ago to become the principal of New Explorers High School in the Bronx. Ms. Simone was involved with many clubs and groups at the schools where she taught, including Italian clubs, SING, school newspapers and debate clubs. She also served as a guidance counselor and dean of students. Aside from teaching, she did standup comedy at various venues in Manhattan, and modeled intermittently for magazines. Ms. Simone loved going to the theater and was a Shakespeare devotee. She was also incredibly close to her family. 

“She was really close to her three nephews and her niece,” said her sister-in-law, Marianne Simone. Ms. Simone was a parishioner of Holy Child R.C. Church, Eltingville. Surviving are her parents, Vincent and Evelyn Cataffo Simone, and her brothers, John and Vincent.

The funeral will be Monday from the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River, N.J., with a mass at 11 a.m. in the R.C. Church of the Visitation, Brick, N.J. Burial will follow in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

Manuel Guerra, 87 of Toms River, passed on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Pennsylvania Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA.  

Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts he lived in the Iron Bound Section of Newark and the Marion Section of Jersey City before moving to Toms River 20 years ago.
Mr Guerra was a Control Agent for the Jersey City Incinerator Authority for many years he retired 1990.  He was a parishioner of St Luke RC Church, Toms River and served as an Usher at the Church for many years.

He is survived by his Loving wife of 66 years  Frances (nee Gaita), four sons and their wives Matthew and Amy of Toms River, Norman and Charlene of Basking Ridge, Mark and Michele of Brick and Michael of Jersey City. Two grand Children Robert & Rachel Guerra, two sisters in law Anna LoPresto and Jean Oricco.  He is predeceased by his cousin Leontina Figueiredo.

William J. Esposito, 87, of Brick passed away October 22, 2009 at Green Acres Manor, Toms River.

Born in Jersey City, William resided in Lyndhurst before moving to Brick in 1986.
William was a wage practice specialist Lucent Technology in Kearney, NJ for 40 years before his retirement. He served in the United States Navy as a 3rd Class Petty Officer during World War II, spending 3 years in the Pacific Theatre.
A communicant of the Church of the Visitation RC Church, Brick he was also a former member and organist with the Brick Elks Lodge #2151, Class President for Class of 1940 to Dickinson High School, Jersey City, served 4 years as president and member of the Telephone Pioneers and former president of Western Electric Retiree Assn., formally a member of the Music Entertainment Committee, Chairperson of the Nominating Committee, Rover Boys Chorus and Music Advisory all of Lions Head South Community.

Surviving are his wife Mildred Ann Esposito, his sons Robert J. Esposito and Gary C. Esposito. His daughters Lynn-Ann Garling and Joan-Ann Esposito, his sisters Lucy Barnas, Phyllis Gelsomino, Christine Guzzardo, Victoria Secola and his 5 grandchildren.

Visiting will be Saturday 8:30am to 9:30am at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River.  A mass of Christian Burial will follow 10:00am at the Church of the Visitation RC Church, Brick.  Cremation Ocean County Memorial Park.

Camille Mary Magnusson, 66, of Bradenton passed away October 21, 2009.

Born in New York City she moved to Bradenton in August 2001 from Toms River, NJ. She grew up in Staten Island, NY and attended Port Richmond High School.
Camille was a homemaker, a realtor with Century 21 Gold Force and also worked for Toms River School System. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Moose Lodge Chapter 1072 & H2U Senior Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Josephine & Salvatore Magro, and husband, Charles Magnusson Sr. Survivors include her sons, Charles Magnusson Jr. of Florida, Lance Thorston Magnusson of Bradenton; daughter, Cheryl Ann Magnusson of New Jersey; brother, Salvatore & wife, Veronica Magro of Bradenton; sister, Rosalie & husband, Robin Jones of Bradenton and many nieces & nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 9:15am at St. Luke's RC Church, Toms River.  Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River are in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Spinelli, 81, of Lakewood  passed away October 22, 2009 at Harrogate Nursing and Rehabilitation, Lakewood.

Marie was born in the Bronx, NY and had resided in Rye, NY, moving to Lions Head South and Adult Community in  Brick before moving to Lakewood 5 years ago.
She was an office Manager for the American Association of Fund Raising Council, a philanthropic organization in New York City.
Marie was a member of the Food Community at Lions Head South.

She was predeceased by her sisters Catherine Auld and Antoinette Puglise.
Surviving are her husband Pasquale "Pat" Spinelli, her brothers Rocco Medeo, and sisters Anna Bucciarelli and Josephine Cavallo. Mass of a Christian Burial will be offered Saturday 11:00am at the Church of the Visitation RC Church, Brick.  Cremation Private.

Rosemary E. Weiss (nee Whitty), 88, formally of  East Brunswick, passed away Friday October 16, 2009 at home.  

Born in Newark she lived at the shore area for the past 3 weeks.
Rosemary was predeceased by her parents John and Elizabeth Whitty, her sister Loretta, her nephew Robert, her granddaughter Kathleen and her grandson Keith.

Surviving are her daughter Elizabeth and son in law William Caufield, her son Earl Weiss and daughter Rosemary and son in law Stanley Jarka, her cousin Catherine Ronan, her niece Loretta High and spouse William.  9 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great nieces, 1 great nephew, in addition to the many cousins and friends.

Visiting will be Monday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday 9:30am at St. Justin's RC Church, arrive at the funeral home 8:30am.  Interment Ocean County Memorial park.

John J. Faragher Jr., 86 of Leisure Village East, Lakewood passed away October 14, 2009 at Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park, NJ.

Born in Philadelphia, PA he resided in Scotch Plains before moving to Lakewood in 1986. He was an Office Manager for NCR Corp., for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
He was a Navy Veteran serving in World War II and the Korean War. He was a communicant of the Church of the Visitation, Brick where he also served as a Eucharistic Minister. Very active in the Leisure Village East Community he served as a Trustee and was involved in many community activies.

Surviving are his beloved wife Loretta Faragher.  His devoted children Gregory, Diane Remo, Jeanne Craig, Janet Sloboda and Kelly Peterson.  Also surviving are his cherished 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Visiting will be Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10:00am at Church of the Visitation RC Church, arrive at the funeral home 9:00am.   Entombment Ocean County Memorial Park.

Anthony Carofola, 81, of Brick passed away October 11, 2009 at Community Medical Center Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River.

A life long resident of Newark, Anthony moved to Brick in 1984.
For 33 years he was with the Newark City Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant, after his retirement he worked for the Federal Courts in Newark, the Courts in Toms River retiring from the Ocean County Prosecutors Office.
He was a US Marine serving in the Korean War and in China.  He was a member of the Toms River VFW and the Retired Police and Firemen Association.

Surviving are his beloved wife Irene Perez Carofola, his step children Victor Marrero, Frank Marrero, Luis Marrero, Ivette Marrero and Milagros Marrero.  His sister Clara Roth, many nieces, nephews and his loving grandson Jonathan Anthony.

Karen R. Werther, 47, of Brick passed away after a courageous battle with breast cancer.  

She grew up in Somerset, NJ where she graduated from Franklin High School and Douglas College of Rutgers University.  Her studies and early career was in the field of Geology.  This led to employment as Chief Geologist in the Dept of Environmental Protection for the state of New Jersey.  After meeting her husband Joseph, they together founded Midlantic Trust, and became well known automobile wholesalers.  She was highly regarded in her industry as an intelligent and ambitious businesswoman.  She also had a passion for travel, especially exploring the islands of Hawaii with her family. 

She was predeceased by her father David.  Surviving to continue her journey are her mother and sister Frieda and Wendy Werther, her loving husband Joseph Nezgoda, her son Michael and stepson Joseph.

Visiting hours are 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ.  Services are at 11:30am at Ocean Country Memorial Park in Toms River, NJ.

Gussie Marie Bandinelli, 76 of Toms River, passed on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at home.  Born in Linden where she lived until moving to Toms River, 15 years ago.

Mrs Bandinelli was the Purchasing agent for Toms & Betts Electric Supplies in Elizabeth for 27 years retiring 16 years ago.  She was a parishioner of St Luke RC Church, Toms River.

She is predeceased by her husband Thomas who passed in 1988.  She is survived by her son Frank of Linden, her daughter Nancy and her husband Charles Herman of Toms River.  Her brother Andrew Renda of Florida, brothers in law and sisters in law Casimer & Catherine Bandeinelli of Bayonne and Isadore & Rose Sinopoli of Italy. Her grand daughter Monica Herman, many nieces and nephews.

Arthur Argiriou, 88, passed away on Tuesday surrounded by family after a short illness. 

Arthur, or "Double A" as he called himself, was born June 28, 1921 in New York City of Greek immigrant parents. A veteran of World War II, he served his country proudly at the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy Beach. Arthur was one of the five Argiriou cousins, who all made it home safely from WWII and shared a close bond. After his return, Arthur attended St. John's School of Law, thereafter entering into practice in Brooklyn. He loved to tell the story of how he and his law partner formed their law firm Argiriou & Finkel with $300. Arthur practiced law for forty-five years at his firm, which had locations on Court Street in Brooklyn and Madison Avenue in New York City. He was a legal advisor for Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church and was instrumental in the building of their school in Brooklyn.
After his retirement from the practice of law, Arthur relocated to Toms River New Jersey from Bay Ridge Brooklyn and enjoyed frequent trips to Atlantic City where he was the winner of several poker tournaments. A kind hearted, loyal and friendly man, generous in heart, Arthur loved to hear the life stories of everyone he encountered, loved to talk politics and philosophy, and loved his friends and family. As one of his dear friends stated upon hearing of his death, "the world has lost a wonderful person."

Arthur was predeceased by his wife of fifty-three years, Ethel Varveris Argiriou. He is survived by his daughter, Renee A. Ullman, her husband, Larry, and Arthur's grandchildren Stephanie and David, all formerly of Toms River; and his son Steven L. Argiriou, his wife Midori, and Arthur's grandchildren, Nagi and Miki, of Brunswick, Georgia.

Visitation will be at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Road, Toms River NJ, Friday 2:00pm to 4:00  and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday 11:00am at St. Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church, arrive at the church 10:30am.  Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Ashland, NY, Monday 1:00pm.

Ruth R. Mahony, 87 of Toms River, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.  

Born in Brooklyn, NY, residing in Newark from 1959 - 1972, and then moving to Toms River.  Ruth was a waitress for Hank's Steakhouse, Union for 40 years, retiring in 1979.  She was a communicant of St. Justin's RC Church, Toms River and a member of Deborah Hospital Seaside Heights Chapter.

She was predeceased by her late husband James D. Mahony in 1978, and survived by a son and daughter in law, Daniel & Donna Mahony of Toms River; 3 grandchildren, Dana Williams and her husband Nate, Kelly Mahony, and Ryan Mahony and his wife Kaitlin; and 2 great grandchildren, Catherine and Annabelle.

Dorothy Karol, 86, of Brick , passed away on Sunday, October 4,2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick . 

Born in Jersey City, she lived in Bayonne before moving to Brick in 1984.
She a member of the Eastern Star of Bayonne and VFW Ladies Aux of Morris Plains.

She is survived by her husband Herman Karol, her son Raymond and his wife Shelia of Long Island, NY; her two grandchildren Adam and Sarah; and her five great grandchildren.
